The App Store achieved the historic landmark of 25 billion App downloads early on Saturday, though Apple has yet to declare the winner of the $10,000 App Store gift card.

Apple changed the counter on its home-page to a thank you page early on today after it achieved the 25 billion number. The graphic shows the App Store icon surrounded by icons of well-known iOS applications, including Twitter, Yelp, Instagram, eBay and Fruit Ninja.

“A billion thanks. 25 occasions over. The App Store has achieved 25 billion downloads. Thanks for getting us there,” the page read. Users are instructed to return to the 25 billion application countdown page later to see who won the App Store present card. The countdown took just over 14 days from when Apple initiated it on Feb 17. At that occasion, the number of application downloads stood around 24.29 billion.

Apple organised a similar countdown to the 10 billionth App Store down load a year ago and achieved the landmark on January 22, 2011. The company has paid out over $4 billion to App Store designers and now carries around 600,000 apps in the digital storefront.
