Ex- India skipper
Sunil Gavaskar on Monday mentioned that the
T20 cricket is affecting the batting skills of the Indian players.”I
think this is the impact of the T20 cricket, because what the T20
crickett does is motivate the batsman to go for the big shots.
Those shots are definitely required in the T20 cricket, but once it
gets into your system, you sense you can get away with it in the 50
overs cricket as well,” Gavaskar explained. Sunil Gavaskar mentioned the Indian coach Duncan Fletcher needs to move in and along with the senior players, he must guide the youngsters.
“Well he and the senior cricketers have to instill in the cricketers
that ‘look when you have the opposition on the back foot, don’t allow
them an entry in the door and if that indicates you have to curb that
basic instinct to go for that big shot you have to do that in the
benefit of the side’ Sunil Gavaskar,” said.
