Ex- Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis has requested the ICC to reexamine the 5 year ban on Mohammad Amir. The ICC suspended Amir for 5 yrs for his participation in spot-fixing during the last Pakistan and England series in August 2010.

A London court put him in jail for corrective sentence for 6 month and he was released from the jail on good conduct. But the ICC 5 yr ban still remains to be reconsidered. “Every law has some room for good conduct and the ICC can find compassion for this young pace. The 5 year ban indicates that he’d be able to come back to cricket in 2015 but by then his career would be over. For a fast bowler it’s tough to stay match fit while staying away from the sport and he hasn’t been even permitted to play club cricket,” says Waqar Younis. “We must have sympathy with him because he is so young. His skill will not only be missed by me but also by the Pakistan squad,” he added.

Waqar Younis was the coach when Amir bowled that popular deliberate no-ball at Lord’s which started the fixing probe, and even told the paceman about it during the lunch time. He was identified to be engaged in spot-fixing along with skipper Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif. They’re also found responsible of conspiring and unfaithful and are serving their phrases in a prison in London. Butt was locked up for two and a half yrs and Asif one and half years.

“There is always a 2nd opportunity and he must have learnt his lessons,” he added. “Even Imran Khan, ex- Pakistan skipper, acknowledged his ability. It indicates there’s something special in this guy,” he added.
