For somebody who undertakes so much research on police and gangsters
for his movies, movie director Sanjay Gupta absolutely overlooked
certain basic things that invited the ire of the police department
presently. Sanjay Gupta, who’s helming gangster drama
Shootout At Wadala,
came up with the vivid idea of sending out invites for a movie event in
the form of a notice, that’s usually sent out by the Commissioner of
Police.
Not only this, the invite was delivered to the invitees by men
dressed as cops men. This might have shocked many, but the police
department definitely didn’t take generously to the gesture and a couple
of police officers quickly landed at Gupta’s office to demand
explanations. Validating the incident, Gupta was quoted to have says,
“The police did come to my office but I put them at ease. I talked to
them and detailed that all this was for a movie. They’re fine with it.”
To mollify them, Gupta also apparently invited them for the event.
Featuring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpai, Sonu Sood and others, Shootout At Wadala dramatizes the initial ever recorded encounter by the Mumbai Police in which gangster Manya Surve was killed.
